Every dog behavior problem is a cause for concern. There are some behavior manifestations though that are more alarming than normal. How do you know when your dog is going out of bounds and might already be potentially dangerous?

Obviously, you might not be too anxious if your dog restricts itself to nipping or jumping. It is quite another story though if your dog starts to bite. This is especially true if your dog is showing signs of turning on you. This simply means that your dog no longer recognizes your authority. When you become a recipient of your dogs aggression, that means other people and kids are also at risk. Your dog could seriously harm the members of your community.

You should be alarmed too if dog behavior problem leads to violence to other animals. Your dog might not yet be into biting humans but it may already be mauling or killing smaller animals or other dogs. This could put other pets in your neighborhood in danger. This behavior may also be a precursor to aggression against humans.

So what can you do about a dog behavior problem? The best way to curb behavior problems in dogs and prevent injury to itself and others is to have your dog trained. As soon as you see signs of aggression in your dog, send it to an obedience school. If aggression is not too pronounced, you might still be able to train your dog yourself with the help of a dog training manual specifically designed to address your dog behavior problem.
