Differentiating Bad Dog Behavior Types
It is obvious that bad dog behavior does not come in one size. There are many different kinds of dog behavior that can be labeled as bad. In general though, they can be placed in two major groups. Undesirable dog behavior can either be non-aggressive or aggressive.
Non-aggressive behavior can be irritating to say the least. It may involve such dog habits as peeing indoors or gnawing through furniture. Repeatedly performing these actions can put you at the edge of your seat. They do not however present any real harm to yourself, your family, your neighbors and other animals. Although some dogs may be more stubborn than others, these non-aggressive behavioral problems can be solved through basic behavior modification. A misbehaving dog for example can be repeatedly told what should and should not be done and then rewarded or praised for desirable behavior.
A more serious bad dog behavior problem is one that involves aggression. You and the people and animals around you can be put in danger when your dog becomes aggressive. This should entail a more serious response from you. Minor signs of aggressive behavior should push you to look for appropriate training programs to correct your dog. You can either look for a good trainer or attempt to fix your dog’s behavior yourself.
Contrary to what some believe, it isn’t impossible to correct bad dog behavior yourself. All you need is the right attitude, a little patience and the right training tools. If you have no experience in training dogs, you can do your own online research first. Make sure though that your training resource is a reliable and credible one.
